Hi, Hello!

I am a political scientist with 15 years’ experience working on democracy, political parties, subnational politics, and decentralization in Southeast Asia. I am a PhD Candidate in Political Science at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and currently writing my dissertation on the subnational variation of dynastic politics in Indonesia. My research on dynastic politics has been featured in national and international media, including The Economist, Reuters, Al-Jazeera, South China Morning Post, Kompas, and Tempo

I am also interested in two other issues that seem worlds apart: the use of blockchain to improve the quality of democracy and how mystical beliefs influence politicians’ behavior. I believe in the power of comedy in building a mature democracy. I spend my free time developing my podcast and YouTube channels to bridge the gap between academics, policymakers, and the public in Indonesia.

I received my BA in Political Science from Parahyangan Catholic University (Bandung, Indonesia). I obtained my first master's degree in Corporate Communications from the London School of Public Relations (Jakarta, Indonesia), M.Sc. in Asian Studies from S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and MA in Political Science from Northwestern University.

I am happy to connect with you through my LinkedIn, Twitter, or email me at yoes.kenawas@gmail.com

Salam,
